Position overview

The Australian National 51³Ô¹ÏÍø (ANU) is seeking a dedicated Liaison Manager based in SHANGHAI, to work for ANU China Centre, which is wholly owned by ANU. This position will have a specific focus on ANU 2025 International Strategy implementation in Eastern China.

This full time, ongoing role based in Shanghai is an exciting opportunity to support the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's internationalisation objectives. The role requires an enthusiastic, innovative, self-motivated individual who is comfortable to work on their own initiative. The post holder will need to be skilled in relationship development, market research, data analysis and presenting to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The Liaison Manager will work remotely in co-working office space but will be part of the China team.

Key Duties:

·       To contribute to the China Country plans for the implementation of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's international strategy in China. An annual plan will be developed and agreed with ANU China Centre which will include key objectives and an outline of planned activity for the year.

·       Build and manage relationships in assigned regions with key partners and influencers such as Chinese and Australian governmental education organizations, Universities/schools, enterprises, research bodies, etc. 

·       Support the Beijing-based marketing team in developing, executing and monitoring marketing strategy that enhances the reputation of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø in the region.

·       Develop deep expertise and market intelligence for the assigned region and proactively share this with ANU China Centre in a timely way. Undertake market research, analysis and report of data to monitor performance and support decision making. This will include ad hoc reports through the year.

·       Plan and implement events and activities for relevant ANU stakeholders.

·       Provide student career support and deal with other student enquiries.

·       Organize visits by ANU executives and senior manager staff to the region. The level of support required, and the amount of direct involvement by the post-holder, will vary from visit to visit.

·       Occasional domestic travel within Mainland China and international travel to Australia, when possible, on behalf of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø may be required.

·       Undertake other high-priority tasks of institutional importance, as assigned by Director of ANU China Centre.

Essential Criterion: 

·       Proficient event management skills

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proven experience in liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships

·       Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to use initiative, investigate issues, collect, and analyze data and to make evidence-based decisions

·       Good understanding of working in multicultural environment

·       Proven ability to work well within a team environment as well as to independently organize work priorities, multiple projects and meet tight deadlines

·       Native-level Mandarin Chinese and advanced spoken and written English skills to be able to communicate effectively with external stakeholders and ANU internal colleagues.

·       High proficiency in the use of computer-based, office information systems

 

Desirable Criterion:

·       Knowledge and life experience with the Australian education system and institutions highly regarded. ANU graduates are encouraged to apply.  

 

Availability:

The position is open to Chinese nationals. The successful candidate will be recruited through ANU China Centre as an ANU local based staff.  

 

The candidate is expected to start this position full timely from 9 Jan 2023.

 

Reporting line:

The position will report directly to Director of ANU China Centre.
