Ann Smith

Lecturer in Business Management

Ann Smith has brought decades of management experience in public, private and community sectors to her award-winning academic role in the Research School of Management. Her background in governance and management of large information systems projects and long experience in adult learning are directly relevant to the challenges the ANU is currently facing. She is collegiate, consultative and collaborative in all her roles, including teaching as well as in serving on such bodies as the ANU Digital Master Plan User Group, the CBE RAP Committee, and the RSM’s Steering Committee for the new Master of Business Administration program. In convening and contributing to post-graduate programs, she has focused on providing a strong, consistent and participatory program experience for students from all cultures supported by practical structures for academic rigor. Her strong commitment to improving the representation and the education outcomes for Indigenous students has informed and contributed to her work in the ANU Management Program in partnership with the National Indigenous Australians Agency for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employees in the Australian Public Services over the last 4 years. These experiences and perspectives will inform her contributions in representing the College on the ANU Academic Board.
