Professor Lyndall Strazdins

Director, Engaged ANU
National Centre for Epidemiology & Population Health
ANU College of Health & Medicine

I have spent the past 12 months consulting with ANU staff, students and leadership to design the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s future mental health and wellbeing strategy. The report is now under consideration. I hope to use my future time on Council to realize the ambition of this strategy and ensure how we treat each other is a non-negotiable foundation for 51³Ô¹ÏÍø actions and decisions. There is a win/win between wellbeing and performance, 275 staff and students know this, and told us this. There is also a need to do things differently. I would welcome the opportunity to support Council and the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø navigate its financial circumstances and achieve its mission with a wellbeing mandate.

Over the past 2 years I have sought to be an enabler on Council – I have a determination to broaden how to think about the problems at hand (there have been many) in ways that keep in mind the very human basis of everything we do. I am well regarded for my attention to processes that bring people together and into decision making, and for being both practical and strategic. I would welcome the opportunity for a second term.
