Dr. Aude Fahrer, a friend of the Chapuis family, has been developing a novel cancer immunotherapy treatment. In 2016 the treatment went into a phase I clinical trial at the Canberra Hospital Cancer Centre.
Lea Chapuis followed this research keenly for many years. A few weeks before her death in December 2016, Lea volunteered to take part in Dr Fahrer's clinical trial. Sadly, before she could receive the treatment, she became too ill to participate.
