Gender and culture Review in the ANU College of Health and Medicine and its schools

ANU is responsible for providing a safe, inclusive and respectful campus where its members can study, work and live free from discrimination, harassment and bullying, and where there is equal access to employment, advancement and education opportunities for staff and students.

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø has commissioned an independent Review of matters of gender and culture in the ANU College of Health and Medicine and its constituent schools, the John Curtin School of Medical Research, the School of Medicine and Psychology, and the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health.  The Review will be undertaken by Professor Christine Nixon

Professor Nixon’s Review will consider issues including gender composition, gender inequality, gender-based harassment, and recruitment practices. The Final Report will include recommendations on operational matters and strategic considerations, and recommendations for future practices to support improved culture, including in relation to gender, inclusion and equity.

Current and former ANU academic staff, professional staff, and students who would like to request an interview with Professor Nixon or provide a written submission are encouraged to email NixonReview@anu.edu.au. Review participants are provided the option of participating in an identified, confidential or anonymous basis.

Professor Nixon will present her findings in a report to the Provost, and a summary of her recommendations will be shared publicly. The Review is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

This page provides an overview of the Review, including the Terms of Reference, FAQs and related 51³Ô¹ÏÍø policies. It will be updated periodically as required.

All queries, interview records and submissions will only be accessible to the independent Nixon Review team and any information used to inform the recommendations will be de-identified.

The period to make submissions to the Nixon Review has concluded and a report to the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø is in preparation.
