Confidentiality & privacy

Accessibility understand the private nature of the information that may need to be disclosed by a student about their disability or medical condition, and we respect the privacy of that information.

Registering students will be asked to sign a form giving Accessibility permission to release information on a strictly needs to know basis to other areas of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. It is necessary for the student to acknowledge this form in order for Accessibility to provide adjustments or services. Where necessary, Accessibility will advise other members of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø staff of the existence and nature of a student's disability. This enables 51³Ô¹ÏÍø staff to assist in implementing any adjustments required to accommodate the student's disability or medical condition.

Accessibility will not disclose information to any person outside the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø without specific written consent of the student, unless the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø considers that disclosure of the information is required in the following circumstances:

  • It is necessary to protect you or someone else from imminent danger,
  • In response to a subpoena, summons or written demand from an administrative body, organisation or Commonwealth authority with the power to request the information,
  • Where a law requires your personal information to be disclosed, such as for the enforcement of criminal law or if you have a health condition which must be notified,
  • Where you are involved in proceedings against the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.

A&I will create a confidential file that will be stored securely for the duration of your studies.
